How I work
Something off afterward? Text me a photo and we’ll talk through what’s going on.

Before you book
How much will it cost?
You get a price from your photos before anything is booked. Estimates are free. If something changes once the job is open, I ask before doing any extra work, so there are no surprise bills.
How soon can you come?
Text what you need and the days that work for you. During working hours, Mon–Sat, I usually reply within the hour with my next openings.
What about the mess?
The work area gets covered first, and I clean up and take away old parts and packaging when the job is done.
Do I buy the parts?
It depends on the job. I can bring common parts, or install a fixture or part you already bought.
I rent the place out. Can a tenant let you in?
Yes. A tenant, a neighbor, a key or a lockbox code all work. Tell me in your text who will be there.
How do I pay?
Most common payment options. Ask when you get your quote.

Before you text us
Quick answers to what people ask most. Anything else, call or text (310) 628-9399.
What should I send you for a quote?
A photo of the job with something in the frame for scale, like a hand or a tape measure, and the city you're in. If there's more than one thing on your list, put it all in the same message with a photo for each. We'll get back to you with a price, or let you know if we need to see it first. Texts go to (310) 628-9399.
Will I know when you're on the way?
Yes. We send you a text before we head over.
What if you find more work once you start?
We stop and ask before doing anything beyond what we agreed on.
Do I need to be home? I'm renting the place out.
Not necessarily. A tenant can let us in, or you can give us a key or a lockbox code. Tell us who'll be there and the best way to reach them, and give your tenant a heads-up that we're coming.
Who buys the parts?
You can buy them, or we can pick them up. Parts depend on the job, and we go over them in your quote. If you're buying, send us the model or a link first and we'll check it's the right one.
Can you install something I already bought?
Usually, yes: a fixture, fan, lock, faucet, blinds or a mirror. Send the model number or a link before the visit so we can check it fits what you have, like the ceiling box, the door, or the window depth.
How can I pay?
We take most payment options. Just ask when you book.
What if something isn't right after you leave?
Text us a photo and tell us what's going on. If something we did isn't right, we come back and take care of it.
Do you handle bigger jobs, like redoing a whole bathroom?
No, those go to a general contractor. Small repairs and installs stay right here.
Which parts of Monterey Park do you work in?
All of it, from Ramona Acres and downtown around Garfield and Garvey to the Monterey Highlands and the hillside streets near the Cascades, plus nearby San Gabriel Valley cities. See the service area page.

A handyman in Monterey Park works on mid-century houses
Most of Monterey Park was built in a short window. Census Bureau estimates for 2020–2024 count 22,134 housing units and date about 79 percent of them to before 1980, with the 1950s and 1960s the busiest decades. Only about 8 percent date from 2000 or later. Many of the homes we visit still have parts from those first decades, and that is where most repairs start.
The housing mix is changing slowly. During the city’s Housing Element outreach, residents noted developers buying single-family lots and rebuilding them as duplexes, triplexes and townhomes. So alongside the original houses there is a growing number of newer attached units, and they need different kinds of help.
Where our Monterey Park work usually lands:
- Original 1950s and 1960s homes: worn faucets and shutoff valves, running toilets, sliding doors and windows that drag, and drywall cracks where the house has settled.
- Newer townhomes and duplexes: TV mounts, shelving, light fixtures and ceiling fans on existing boxes, and caulk and grout touch-ups after the first years.
- Homes changing hands: patching, paint touch-ups and the small list of fixes before a move.
We keep to repairs and like-for-like swaps. Anything that needs new circuits, new plumbing runs or wall changes goes to the right trade, and we say so in our first reply. A photo by text is the fastest way to an upfront price; our contact page explains what to send, and the home guides cover the most common fixes.

Monterey Park neighborhoods we work in
Ramona Acres, north of Garvey Avenue and east of Garfield Avenue, was the area’s first subdivision, laid out in 1906. The Monterey Highlands were farmland and nurseries in the 1920s. On the southwest side, Midwick View Estates left behind El Encanto and the stepped fountain now called Heritage Falls Park, or the Cascades.
Garvey Avenue follows the old Monterey Pass trail, and Garvey Ranch Park sits where Garvey Lake once was. We work across all of them, from downtown around Garfield and Garvey to the hillside streets. More on the service area page.

A Monterey Park customer on Yelp
I had an issue with my toilet being clogged and it flushing randomly throughout the night. He came the next day and saw that my water pump was old and needed replacement. He also unclogged my toilet. He also noticed that the caulk around the toilet base looked a bit worn so he went ahead and caulked it for me as a courtesy.
I had a previous plumber but unfortunately he majorly messed up a plumbing job and I'm so glad that I found Rick as I wouldn't know what to do when it comes to home maintenance. In addition, he offered reasonable prices compared to competitors so I will be sticking with Rick from now on. If you need a good plumber/handyman, Rick is your guy.
