Stucco patch repair in Monterey Park

Holes left by an old light or satellite dish, a hairline crack that keeps growing, or a corner knocked off by a car can all be patched. We fill and texture small areas of stucco so they blend in once painted.

The fixes we cover

  • Hairline and settlement cracks filled
  • Holes from old fixtures, dishes and pipes patched
  • Damaged corners rebuilt
  • Texture matched to the surrounding wall
  • Patches primed and ready for paint
  • Weep screed areas cleared of soil and debris

Where it usually goes wrong

  • Holes are left behind when old fixtures come off.
  • Hairline cracks open near windows and doors.
  • Sprinklers and soil against the wall damage the bottom edge.

Stucco on postwar houses

Census Bureau estimates show that 12,586 of Monterey Park's 22,134 housing units were built between 1940 and 1969. Stucco was the standard exterior finish for houses of that era across Southern California, and decades of settling, sprinklers and repainting leave small cracks and patches that need attention.

Small cracks are common and mostly cosmetic. Wide cracks, cracks that keep opening, or bulging stucco can point to a moisture or framing problem behind it, which we flag rather than cover up.

Where these facts come from: U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024 5-year estimates, table B25034 (via Census Reporter).

How a stucco patch is done

Loose material is chipped back to sound stucco and the edges are undercut so the patch keys in. Larger holes get new lath and a scratch coat before the finish.

Patching mix is applied in layers and allowed to cure between coats. The last coat is textured to match the wall around it, whether sand finish, dash or lace.

Once cured, the patch can be painted. New stucco always looks different until it is painted, so we tell you that up front and can prime it for you.

  2. Quote before work. Text us a picture, and you’ll have our quote before work begins.
  3. The visit. We text before heading over.
  4. Parts and extras. Parts vary from job to job, so your quote spells them out. If we open things up and find more, anything extra waits until you say yes.

Stucco patching questions

Something else? Call or text and ask.

Will the patch match?

Texture can be matched closely. Color matches once the area is painted.

Do you re-stucco whole walls?

No. Full re-stucco goes to a plastering contractor.

Is a crack in my stucco serious?

Most hairline cracks are not. Wide or growing cracks should be checked.

Can you paint the patch?

Yes, if you have the paint; we can prime it either way.

How long before a patch can be painted?

Patching mix needs time to cure before paint; we tell you the wait for the product we used, usually days rather than hours.
